What I do

Why Margate needs a Margate fencer

The prevailing wind on Thanet is a north-easterly straight off the North Sea. Salt-laden air lifts up the chalk cliffs at Cliftonville and Palm Bay and drives horizontally at any coastal boundary. A fence installed to inland-Kent spec fails inside 4-5 years on that coast; the same fence installed to UC4 coastal spec runs 12-15 years. A contractor from Ashford or inland Kent will not know that without being told, and a national fencing chain running to a standard spec sheet will typically install UC3 panels on softwood posts because it is what they stock. Both approaches are false economies on a Margate boundary.

Add Thanet DC's Article 4 directions on some Old Town streets, the chalk-substrate post-hole surprises at Palm Bay, and the HMO and holiday-let density in Cliftonville that changes the standard boundary security conversation - and Margate is genuinely its own workload. Not generic-fencer territory.

How I work

Photos and postcode for an initial quote. Instant WhatsApp fixed-price on most straightforward jobs. Site visit for closeboard runs over 15m, driveway gates, Old Town conservation-area addresses, and Palm Bay chalk-check.
Fixed-price quotes. Once the scope is agreed the price is fixed. If the ground is worse than I expected on the day, that is my problem, not yours.
UC4 pressure treatment as standard on the coast. Never UC3 on a run within a mile of the seafront. The spec is written into every quote.
Concrete posts and concrete gravel boards as standard on any full-height run. Timber posts are a false economy on Thanet ground.
Site-mixed post concrete on planned jobs. Rapid-set post-mix only on same-day storm-damage repair.

What I don't do

Sell UC3 timber for coastal exposure. It is a false economy and I will not fit it on any Margate seafront boundary.
Use dry-thrown post-mix on load-bearing runs where the site allows for proper site-mixed concrete.
Cut corners on post depth to fit a job into a half-day. Wrong depth means slow lean six months later.
Invent scope. If a repair job needs a single panel and a post, that is what I quote for. Not "and while I'm here...".

The guarantee

Every job carries the 'A proper job or you pay nothing' guarantee. If the run does not go up straight, plumb, and level along the top, and secured to spec, you do not pay for it. That is separate from timber-manufacturer warranty (15 years on UC4 pressure treatment typically) and separate from the running life expectancy of the timber itself.
