What's included

• Vertical pointed-top timber palisades, spaced with a gap between each pale (typically 40-60mm)
• Pressure-treated UC4 softwood posts set in mixed concrete

Timing

A standard 15-metre palisade run: 1-2 working days. Palisade is faster than closeboard because there is no board-by-board overlap fitting, but the pointing on each pale adds time compared to panel.

Margate-specific notes

Airflow through the fence. Palisade lets the north-easterly through rather than resisting it. That is the reason it stands up better than a solid fence at some exposed CT9 addresses - the wind load on the run is lower, so the posts and rails carry less strain. Trade-off is you lose visual privacy through the gaps.

HMO and holiday-let boundary security. Where 4ft closeboard would be the standard rear-alley fence, some Cliftonville landlords prefer 6ft palisade because it looks less "prison" than a solid 6ft closeboard while still deterring casual climb-over. Different addresses, different answers.

Standard 6ft palisade on UC4 posts: £65-85 per metre installed. 5ft palisade £55-75 per metre. 4ft palisade £45-65 per metre. Painted or stained finish adds £8-12 per metre.
