What's included

Timing

A standard 20-metre panel run replacing an existing panel fence: 1-2 working days. Same-day possible on runs under 12 metres where the old posts can be reused. Storm-damage panel replacements often same-day.

Margate-specific notes

Where panel works, where closeboard is better. Panel fencing is the right answer for inland Garlinge, Birchington and Westbrook rear boundaries where the north-easterly is broken by surrounding stock before it hits the boundary. It is not the right answer for exposed Cliftonville and Palm Bay seafront boundaries - the panels flex, the overlap boards work loose in the salt wind, and the run is back to being a repair job inside 5-7 years. On those runs, closeboard is the honest answer.

UC4 vs UC3 treatment. Standard panel yards stock UC3-treated overlap panels (above-ground contact only). For any Margate coastal boundary, insist on UC4 treatment. The upcharge is £5-8 per panel and the life extension is 4-6 years.

Conservation-area detail. Overlap panels are a modern look and Margate Old Town streetscape leans traditional. In conservation zones I recommend picket or closeboard-with-capping rather than overlap.

Standard 6ft overlap panels on concrete posts and gravel boards: £55-75 per metre installed. 5ft panels £48-65 per metre. 4ft panels £42-55 per metre. Waney-edge and featheredge panels add £5-8 per metre. Single-panel replacements as storm-damage repair: £75-110 supply and fit per panel.
