CT9 · Margate area
The residential arc west of Margate seafront running towards Westgate-on-Sea. Mixed period stock, tight rear gardens, closeboard on concrete post is the workhorse.
Westbrook runs from the Nayland Rock end of Margate seafront out along the coast to the Westgate boundary. Housing stock is a mix of Edwardian villas nearer the town, semi-detached inter-war stock through the middle, and some newer development at the Westgate end. The rear gardens are typically narrow but deep, which suits a standard closeboard rear-boundary run.
Salt exposure is real but slightly reduced compared to Cliftonville - the north-easterly comes across the bay at Westbrook rather than straight in, and a lot of Westbrook boundary runs sit second-line behind seafront stock, which breaks the wind load.
Standard permitted-development rules apply: 2m rear, 1m to a highway. No conservation-area restrictions on the main Westbrook streets.
